Overview

 

 

ROCKSTOP GAS & WASH is a gas and convenience store, the first of its kind in the Atlantic City market.  It will also be the largest and newest ROCKSTOP within the Hard Rock brand collection.  As such, the ROCKSTOP GAS & WASH will be a touch point for arriving and departing guests, employees, and local residents.  The overall service at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City will often be judged by the first and last impression made at the ROCKSTOP.   

 

The ROCKSTOP Director is in charge of the overall daily operation, profitability goals, guest service standards, capital budgets, monthly financial reports, team member supervision, training and development, quality control, inventory management, gasoline purchasing, and more.    

 

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Creates an atmosphere that induces guests to make ROCKSTOP their choice for gas station and car wash needs; responsible for actively building and retaining guest relations and acts as a mentor to team members to provide superior guest service. 
  • Ability to manage a gas station, car wash and retail store operation efficiently, maintain daily records, monthly inventory documentation, receiving and payroll.
  • Vendor communication – Purchasing, payment, delivery and sell-thru follow up. New product research and acquisition.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe environment to ensure the gas station, car wash, and retail store are reflective of the first-class standards of Hard Rock.  
  • Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and in good working order by utilizing preventative maintenance programs. 
  • Cash handling, fuel transactions, departmental Standard Operating Procedures. 
  • Promoting Rock Star Rewards program and ensuring use of points or complimentary offers is a seamless process for guests and team members. 
  • Convenience store product mix, profit margin, product flow and order schedule, quality issues and markdown opportunities. 
  • Builds business/market share by thinking of new ways to promote the company and new programs that will bring in business, and by participating in local events to increase sales and profits.
  • Ensure and maintain proper inventory and core retail items are available in ROCKSTOP at all times to maximize sales Assist in all aspects of the operating budget (monthly profit & loss statement review) and the annual budget process as it relates to ROCKSTOP.
  • Set appropriate gas and retail prices based on HRI pricing and local market comparison. 
  • Balance staffing levels and labor costs to achieve a cost-effective plan for ROCKSTOP; monitor and control labor expense using established methods to meet goals.
  • Communicate updates and programs to management and ROCKSTOP staff.
  • Ensure ROCKSTOP is well maintained and visually aligned with Hard Rock standards and directives. 
  • Design visual merchandise displays that increase foot traffic and sales.
  • Achieve an environment that delivers an amplified guest experience in the ROCKSTOP through proper team member training and analysis of guest feedback.
  • Enforce proper receiving and inventory procedures at the store level. 
  • Oversee and assist in the training of team members in all gas, car wash and retail POS and operating requirements.
  • Operate POS Systems (Agilysis), Bally’s CMP, and other related systems in the car wash/gas station industry.
  • Ensure ROCKSTOP is properly staffed on an ongoing basis. Overseeing recruitment, selection, orientation, growth, and retention ROCKSTOP staff.
  • Promote internal development for Supervisors and above using development planning tools and measurable goals. 
  • Responsible for ROCKSTOP’s contribution to service standards through shop reports, quality standards and inspections.
  • Abide by and enforce all applicable Hard Rock Hotel & Casino policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

(Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis)

 

Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in supervising others in gas, car wash, retail/convenience store or restaurant management. Experience in analysis of business and product sales to make sound buying decisions, and experience in gas, retail or restaurant operations management required. College degree preferred.   Must have valid NJ Drivers License.

  • Work as a team, helping all team members to complete the required activities that ensure we exceed guest expectations.
  • Perform all job duties ethically and without conflicts with Hard Rock’s business interests.
  • Review and interpret financial budgets and sales reports.
  • Use all equipment associated with the position, including, but not limited to, gas station pumps, car wash equipment, cash registers and computer equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment by complying with all health and sanitation procedures to ensure the store is presentable and that all products are in-stock.
  • Observe, supervise and direct actions of subordinates.
  • Review and comprehend all necessary documentation.
  • The ability to multi-task, perform repeated bending, standing, and reaching, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Be flexible to work varying shifts and time schedules as needed.
